The Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) has so far managed to raise about 90 per cent of the funds needed to host the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships.

This word was given by BASA president Tony Selby during a press briefing yesterday at the Aquatic Centre.

“These particular games are looking in the order of about $400 000, which is a significant amount of funds for us but fortunately, like I said, we have received assistance from some of the organisations that I mentioned a while ago which is going a long way in helping us.

“We also have our own fundraising activities and our methods in terms of the charges we have for the athletes who will be participating from overseas. I would say we are 90 per cent close to reaching our target,” said Selby.
