Titus delivers gold

Barbados’ top junior female swimmer Danielle Titus has delivered gold again.

The silky smooth 16-year old student of The St Michael School won the 15-17 girls’ 200m backstroke last night as the curtain came down on the CARIFTA Swimming Championships at the Aquatic Centre.

Titus’ time was 2 minutes 21.87 seconds and teammate Danielle Treasure secured the silver clocking 2:25.37.

Tristan Pragnell also struck gold in the boys’ 15-17 event in 2:11.53 ahead of Bermuda’s Jack Harvey (2:14.73) and Brett Smith (2:15.52) won silver and bronze, respectively.

Barbadian Adara Stoddard captured her fourth medal, a silver in the 13-14 girls’ 100 metre breaststroke in 1:18.54 behind Jamaica’s Sabrina Lyn (1:15.72). Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson took the bronze in 1:18.99.

Kenyah Deane won the first medal for Barbados on the night when she took silver in the girls 11-12, 400 metre freestyle in 4:59.42. Harper Barrowman of the Cayman Islands won the gold in 4:47.92 and Trinidad and Tobago’s Amelia Rajack got bronze in 4:59.75.

Barbados finished sixth on the medal table. (AG-B)
