Barbados’ hopes of a place at this year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup took a massive blow as the Young Tridents were thrashed 4-0 by Canada in their final group match of the CONCACAF Championships at the IMG Academy, Miami, Florida.

Looking to bounce back from their worst ever defeat on Saturday when they lost to United States 6-1, the Tridents once again struggled to have a major impact on the game.

Jacen Russell-Rowe broke the deadlock in the 14th minute before Simon Colyn doubled Canada’s advantage five minutes before the half time whistle.

Kamaron Habibullah scored in the 73rd minute to make the score 3-0 and Jeremie Nkoy netted six minutes later to secure the victory.

Barbados, who sit bottom of Group F, will have to hope for a miracle to sneak into the next round of competition, relying on the United States to beat third place Guatemala by eight clear goals. (AG-B)
