Flow advises customers on handling abnormal calls

Don’t answer the phone! That’s the message telecommunications provider FLOW is sending to all mobile phone customers who have been receiving what the company has described as atypical phone calls in recent days.

Since last week, customers have been venting on social media platforms after receiving numerous calls which originate from overseas, and usually have an area code of +882, and in fewer cases +371 or +381.

“Flow Barbados is aware that some of its voice customers have been receiving atypical calls from select overseas-based numbers.  In most instances, the phone rings once or twice before the call hangs up. If you are receiving these calls, we advise you not to answer,” FLOW’s Corporate Communications Manager, Alan Harris said.

He noted the company was conducting due diligence in the matter.

“Our engineers have been treating this matter as a priority and significant progress has already been made in preventing these numbers from accessing our local voice network.  Further, we are also advising customers not to return any phone calls they do not recognise, especially from overseas numbers, as this will result in international carrier charges,” FLOW warned.

The company also advised customers to block these numbers from calling their personal devices again. (BA)
