Two budding Barbadian basketballers have a golden opportunity to shoot for the stars.

Christ Church Foundation’s Adarah Walcott and Conner Sullivan of Harrison College left on Thursday for Brazil, where they will represent Barbados at the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Global Championship Selection Camp for Latin America teams.

They were accompanied by long-standing national player and National Sports Council’s coach Zahir Motara, who is also the second vice president of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association.

The three-day camp, which features 36 participants from South American and Caribbean countries where there are junior NBA programmes, started yesterday at Clube Alto dos Pinheiros in Sao Paulo and will finish tomorrow.

It is being conducted by NBA’s operations staff and junior NBA league coaches, focusing on positional skill development and culminating with three-on-three and five-on-five competitions.(EZS)
