Barbados is sorely lacking the enabling environment to generate efficient and sustainable public-private partnerships (PPPs), new research has concluded.

Specifically as it relates to PPPs for physical infrastructure, Barbados has a lowly ranking in Latin America and the Caribbean.

That’s based on the 2019 edition of Infrascope, an annual benchmarking tool published by the Economist Intelligence Unit and Inter-American Development Bank, which evaluates the capacity of countries to implement PPPs.

The benchmarking index has been published six times, but Barbados, like The Bahamas, has been included for the first time. (SC)
