Police from the drug squad arrested and charged two people with a number of drug related offences today.
They are 37-year-old Rogich Augustus Edghill of 2nd Avenue Grazettes, St Michael, and 29-year-old Tanisha Natasha Haynes-Norville of 3rd Avenue Grazettes, St Michael.
Edghill was charged with acts preparatory for the purpose of trafficking in cannabis, while Haynes-Norville was charged with importation of cannabis.
The duo was jointly charged with trafficking in cannabis and conspiracy to traffic in cannabis.
On Thursday, May 23, at the Bridgetown Port a battery charger shipped from Trinidad was scanned and examined by Customs. The charger was found to contain eight blue carbon wrapped packages, each containing vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis. The total weight was 4.9 kilogrammes (10.78 lbs), with an estimated street value of $19 600.
The discovery of the substance was reported to the police and Edghill and Haynes-Norville were arrested.
They both appeared in District ‘A’ Criminal Court #1 today, before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, and both were granted bail in the sum of $15 000 with one surety. They are scheduled to reappear in court on October 14. (PR)
