Drinking water is not being used to power wash the jersey barriers along the ABC Highway.

The Ministry of Transport, Works and Maintenance said in a media release today it was recycled, irrigation water.

Pammard Services Inc. has been contracted to power wash the barriers from the Graeme Hall Roundabout, Christ Church, to the D’arcy Scott Roundabout in Warrens, St Michael.

Some members of the public expressed concern about the washing since the island is in the midst of a drought and Government has put mitigation measures in place, including prohibitions on watering lawns, washing cars or washing down driveways.

The work started on Monday and is expected to last for five weeks, with the crew working between 6 pm and 2am.

The road will be reduced to one lane in the areas where the cleaning is being carried out. (PR/SAT)
