BARBADOS gained their first medal of the Central American and Caribbean (CCCAN) Swimming Championships when they opened with the Artistic Swimming Competition at the Aquatic Centre yesterday.

Erika Loustric, recent triple gold medallist at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships, again displayed her magic in the pool when her routine ticked all the boxes in terms of difficulty, artistic impression and execution to capture silver in the junior solo free competition with a score of 63.3000.

For just under three minutes she captivated the Barbadian supporters in the stands with her execution, which exuded grace and flexibility in every ballet leg, crane and split above the surface.

Though she appeared quite confident in the pool, she told MIDWEEK SPORT she was anxious since the competition was at a high level.  (RG)
