Ex-Board drivers hit cash bump

A GROUP of 41 former drivers of the Transport Board who voluntarily separated from the company earlier this year, hope to be back on the road by September, this time driving their own vehicles.

However, chairman of the newly-formed Independent Operators of Barbados, Hudeen Hinds, said a lack of finance might spoil their dream of owning buses.

“We have sourced some buses that we want to bring in but the only problem is the finance. Since we left our workplace, we still have to get the National Insurance cheques.

“And even if some of our guys get our packages, that won’t be enough money to cover the costs, so we are hoping to get some loans from Fund Access,” Hinds said yesterday during a press conference at the Trust Loan Unit (TLU), Harbour Road, St Michael, before a training session.
