World class surfer Chelsea Tuach has several goals as Barbados debut at the Pan American Games here in Lima.

While Tuach feels tremendous pride at being made the flag-bearer for tomorrow’s opening ceremony, she is hoping her first-time participation in a “big games” will land her gold and crest her to the podium at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“It is such an honour (to be the flag bearer). I have only been here for a day and I have been taking it all in. It is really incredible and I am happy that surfing can be in it and that for the first time I can be part of a big team.

“I begin competition on Monday and the cold conditions are no bother as I often surf in conditions colder that what we have here. My goal is a top performance firstly and to earn the points and the qualifications to the Tokyo Olympics. (KB)
