Environmental health officers are being given two suitable and reliable vehicles to carry out their duties at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA).
Wayne Walrond, the acting deputy general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), told the DAILY NATION that this was one of the issues addressed at a meeting yesterday morning to resolve a number of the health inspectors’ concerns.
The officers had complained that the two vehicles which they had been using for over ten years were not in good working condition and had become unreliable.
As a result, they were walking back and forth to aircrafts in the sun and rain to carry out inspections and clearance, but this was taking a toll on them. (MB)
