Hundreds of people have lined the streets to witness this year’s Barbados Light & Power Foreday Morning Jam.

The event got off to a smooth start around 1:15 a.m. at Queen’s Park in The City, even before Classic had been crowned calypso king at Kensington Oval.

A Nation team on the road reported a heavy police presence, augmented by the Task Force and the Barbados Defence Force. The bands also have security personnel.

There have been no incidents of bad behaviour and revellers are on the route heading towards Fontabelle, as the music trucks blast the slower songs of the Crop Over season. One of the highlights will be the announcement of the Jam Tune, the song which is played most on the road.

This year, Foreday Morning will have two extra hours, lasting until 8 a.m. (SAT/KB)
