Two ex-BAICO workers get OK to file case

Former British American Insurance Company (Barbados) Limited (BAICO) employees have made a major breakthrough in their battle to end a seven-year wait for severance pay.

The Barbados High Court has ruled that the workers can have their claims heard by the Severance Payments Tribunal of the National Insurance Scheme (NIS).

Justice Jacqueline Cornelius delivered the decision last Tuesday after severed BAICO employees Henderson Headley and Hugh Greenidge filed an application through their attorney Michelle Russell.

During the hearing, legal representatives for NIS appeared amicus curiaeto voice their concern about the application. (SC)
