Low income earners in Barbados continue to struggle. And that is leading them to lean even more on the generosity of the Salvation Army.
That observation was made yesterday as scores of people flocked to the Salvation Army’s Reed Street Bridgetown headquarters to receive items distributed during their Back to School programme.
Divisional business manager Sherma Evelyn said due to the great demand last year, they had to increase the number of families they made provisions for.
“Last year when we gave out vouchers and backpacks to 80 families we had people still coming, so we decided to increase it to 100. I don’t know if after the distribution if people will come. . . but that usually happens if they see the article in the newspaper,” she said. (TG)
