Power outage knocks out pumping stations

The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is informing the public that power outage in the north of the island has caused the Bowmanston, Golden Ridge and Sweet Vale pumping stations to go offline.

BWA is investigating these and other pumping stations in the north for functionality to determine whether generators need to be deployed. Pumping has resumed from Bowmanston, however, the other facilities are still to be addressed.

Until levels in the system normalise, the following areas may experience low water pressure or outages.

St John: Cheshire, Eastmont, Small Hope, Moore’s Land, Carters, Gall Hill, Clifton Hall, Church View, Newcastle, Martins Bay, Zores Land, Pothouse, Glebe, Colleton, Cliff Cottage, Haynes Hill, Colleton Gardens, Coach Hill, Bath Land, Welch Village, Sargeant Street, Society, Massiah Street, Rose Gate, Guinea Land, Stewart Hill, Pool Land, Spooners, Wakefield Tenantry, Lemon Arbor, Cherry Grove, Four Roads, Sherbourne, Todds Tenantry, Macaroni Village, Henley, Edgecliff, Hothersal and surrounding areas.

St Thomas: Church Gap, Fisher Pond and surrounding districts.

St George: Golden Ridge Village, Ashbury and surrounding areas. (PR)
