South African ultra-endurance athlete Cameron Bellamy is targetting another swim marathon.

Fresh from covering the distance from Barbados to St. Lucia, the lion-hearted Bellamy is ready for another challenge by year-end.

“When I’m doing these long swims because 56 hours is a lot of time to be thinking out there, you start thinking about what is going to happen in the future.

“I want to settle down from this one first and then make a decision. I have a very big project in December coming. I can’t talk about it just yet but it’s going to be a very big expedition,” he said.

The 37-year-old Bellamy believes the uncertainty of a journey is his biggest motivation.

“You left from here at St Peter’s Bay and you are going to St Lucia but you obviously can’t see St Lucia. You just know it is in that direction and you just know you have to get there. That’s your goal, you have no idea what is going to happen along the way and that’s actually my biggest motivation,” he said during an exclusive interview with Saturday Sport at St. Peter’s Bay Resort yesterday.

It was just last week Friday he swam off from the resort around 8:20 a.m. to reach the coastline of St Lucia’s southern tip on Sunday.

“I forced myself to realise that I was going to be in the water for the next 60 hours and once you realise that and have that in your head from the get go that’s your expectation and so that’s your life for the next 60 hours,” he said.
