MILES ALLEYNE has joined the list of cricketers who have accomplished the rare feat of capturing all ten wickets in an innings in a local cricket match.
Last Saturday at St Stephen’s Hill, the Harrison College student swept aside the entire opposition while conceding just seven runs against the Ellerslie School. The hosts were shot out for a modest 29 and Harrison College went on to win the match inside two days in the Barbados Cricket Association’s Schools’ competition.
During an interview, Alleyne told MIDWEEK SPORT he was pleased with the accomplishment and saw it as something which could be used as encouragement when things weren’t going so well on the field.
“It’s very rare, so I need to celebrate it as much as possible and always hold on to it and use that as a go-back-to. It was a very good feeling. It would be amazing to do it again. I expected it to be a team effort and it ended up coming mainly from me,” Alleyne said.
Though some may consider the performance the result of luck, the 13-year-old who has been playing the sport for the past four years may have a different view since his performance was simply an improvement on an eight-wicket haul last season.
