The board of the Transport Authority has yet to meet to make a final deliberation on the controversial five-minute rule.
Chairman Ian Estwick told the DAILY NATION yesterday they should meet this week.
After a meeting with some permit holders at Solidarity House on Sunday, October 13, Estwick said he was going to take the concerns of the operators to the board later in that week and they would deliberate on the time limit.
The rule stipulates a five-minute loading time for public service vehicles in the Constitution River Terminal in order to facilitate smooth operations, according to the authority. However, operators cried foul, saying it was not enough time and they were being unfairly treated.
On October 9, some operators parked their vehicles along the side of Nursery Drive in protest.
A compromise was made where the operators were given ten minutes during off-peak times, though some discretion was allowed on the part of the terminal workers. However, some operators said they were still being forced to leave after five minutes. (CA)
