Government is planning a number of infrastructural improvements in St James in what it says is an effort to safeguard lives.
Areas such as Westmoreland and Douglin Road, known for vehicular accidents and flooding, respectively, have been earmarked for extensive work.
This was revealed yesterday during a tour organised by representative for St James North, Edmund Hinkson, which included Minister of Transport, Works and Maintenance Dr William Duguid and minister in that ministry, Peter Phillips, as well as technical officials and staff.
Douglin Road in Weston is near the area where entertainer The Great Carew was swept away in his home into the ocean on August 3, 1995, as a result of raging waters due to a tropical depression. His body was recovered two days later. (CA)
