CBC pay delay upsets staff

DISGRUNTLED Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) workers staged a sit-in yesterday over not receiving on time back pay and other monies owed to them.

A source, affected by the same non-payment for last month, said they were considering strike action should the monies, due on the 28th of each month, not be paid soon.

But chairman of the new CBC board, David Leacock, told the DAILY NATION they were only doing due diligence on payments and the money should be deposited shortly.

The workers have been up in arms with management since last Friday when the money was four days overdue, complaining that CBC had been depositing it later and later each month even though it was lodged with the state-run enterprise by the Central Bank on time. (AC)
