GOLD CUP-winning jockey Rasheed Hughes will lead a youthful Barbados team against a strong British side in the Barbados Lottery International Jockeys Challenge on Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.

Hughes, the 2018 champion jockey, will be joined by veteran Anderson Trotman, Affrie Ward and apprentices N’Rico Prescod, Eric Daniel and Delano Lopez Prescod.

After landing his first Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup in March with Celestial Storm, Hughes is geared up to lead the local contingent. He is in top form, leading the jockeys’ championship table with 45 wins.

He booted home No Not Again on the second season’s final day – one of a treble – for his 150th career success. (LY)
