BEACH CRICKET is coming to the We Gatherin’ Barbados 2020 initiative with the staging of the Caribbean Super Two’s Beach Cricket Festival.

During the event launch at Browne’s Beach yesterday, Minister of Environment and Beautification Trevor Prescod explained that the event wasn’t only focusing on the tournament but would also mirror the Barbadian people.

“When I was told about the event I really believed that it was best suited to be included in the vision 2020 programme which is a national programme in which the government is going to do all it can to make sure we facilitate all different types of activities that are a mirror of who we are as a people.

He said it doesn’t only fit into the traditional practices in Barbados as it relates to cricket but noted there will be innovative concept changes in the rules andregulations with a fusion of social and cultural activity. (RG)
