Lisa Harewood and Jaleel Shannon are this year’s Most Outstanding Parish Ambassadors.
With a total of 1,594.5 points, they went into The Spirit of the Nation Show on Saturday night at the Wildey Gymnasium leading and as the St Michael pair faced the judges and the audience in costume, parish project presentation, and formal wear, they were comfortable and confident.
The most outstanding ambassadors didn’t win prizes in any of the other categories apart from the coveted title, but their success added to the Parish Independence Committee winning the Productivity Award for their project entitled St Michael: We Heritage, We Culture, We Parish.
In the costume segment, Harewood and Shannon wore Kevin Small designed and made costumes, which were replicas of a washer woman and the Earl of Carlisle, after whom Carlisle Bay is named respectively. Small also made their burgundy gown and suit both featuring an African inspired print.
Second place went to St Peter’s Ambassadors Karina Browne and Cody Redman-Boyce, St John’s Renetta Haynes and Tarique Griffith were third, and St Thomas ambassadors, Tiara Sealy and Dondre Hurdle were fourth. (GBM)
