Joel McKenzie McDonald Springer, 52, of Hope Road and Northumberland, St Lucy will spend the next 455 days at HMP Dodds.

Justice Randall Worrell imposed the sentence yesterday in the No. 2 Supreme Court following Springer’s guilty pleas in June to arson, illegal possession of a firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition and aggravated burglary.

Springer’s sentence took into account that he had been on remand at HMP Dodds for five years with his last court appearance being in 2016.

The father of five admitted that on May 21, 2014, he and an accomplice had a pipe gun and a bullet; that they burnt the house of Mervin Koieman and entered Nicole Hinds’ home, inflicted grievous bodily harm on her and had a knife and a firearm at the time. (RA)
