Former president of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), Michael Fennell, says the governments of the region need to rethink their approach on sports development in the Caribbean.
Fennell, who served in his position at the JOA for 40 years, made the assertion in his feature address at the Barbados Olympic Association’s 2019 Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Barbados on Thursday night.
His comments drew loud applause from the audience.
“I want to draw the attention of the governments of the Caribbean for ignoring sport for [the] powerful force which it represents in our society,” Fennell said.(NU)
