Two years after Lucene Bishop buried two sons who died in a house fire, she will now have to bury her last child, who died in the first road accident for the year.

An accident yesterday along Brereton Main Road, St Philip, around 10:55 a.m. claimed the life of 49-year-old Andrew “Binga” Harewood (below) of Fairview, Christ Church.

andrew-harewood-041118According to police reports, a white van owned by the Barbados Agricultural Management Corporation (BAMC) and driven by Harewood was involved in an accident with a grey diesel truck owned and driven by Tyrone Sobers, 48, of Farm Road Terrace, St Philip, who escaped unhurt.

Police said the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided head-on.

When a Weekend Nation team visited the residence of Harewood, who lived with his 73-year-old mother, teary-eyed family members and neighbours said Bishop was getting ready to attend the funeral for Walter Therold “Robbie” Roberts, a neighbour who ran a small shop in the community. (SB)
