Final clash at Wildey Turf

It will be a battle for the ages at local football’s mecca, the Wildey Turf, when St Michael East and St Michael North East meet in the final of the National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Community Under-19 Competition today.

In a series of miraculous events, both sides have gone the distance in the inaugural tournament after being drawn together in the group stage in the Central zone.

St Michael North East qualified comfortably in third spot with 10 points, but East had narrowly squeezed through with eight points as the best fourth-placed side.

After having eliminated two teams who finished ahead of them in the group – Eden Lodge-based St Michael North and Carrington Village-based St Michael South Central – East will hope to inflict embarrassment on the third team to finish above them on the grandest stage possible. (NM)
