UPDATE: Police identify body found in St Philip

Police have identified the partially decomposed body which was found at the bottom of a cliff in St Philip as 35-year-old Jason Hobbs of #72 Elizabeth Park Christ Church.

Hobbs was pulled from the waters on Friday in the area of Elbow Bay, Fortescue which is known to the residents as My Lady Hole. Hobbs was last seen by his mother on Tuesday.

In an earlier interview with the NATION, a teary Marselle Hobbs made an appeal for her son to come home or for anybody who knows his whereabouts to contact the family.

She and Jason’s stepfather Jerome Moseley said they only realised that he was unaccounted for on Wednesday after police came to their residence at Harmony Hall, Christ Church seeking him.

Marselle explained that Jason, the third of her seven children, had moved out but would still frequent the family house. She said Jason had never run afoul of the law.

“He used to live with us but he moved more than a year-and-a-half, so we couldn’t tell the police where he was when they came,” Marselle stated.

She remembered on the day that Jason visited it was around 9 a.m. He washed his car, took the dogs for a walk and returned. He eventually left there after 12 noon.

Then on Wednesday, the police came and with news that rocked the couple’s world.

After the inquiry from the lawmen, Marselle and Moseley then tried to get in contact with Jason, but got no answer from his cell phone neither could they find anyone to say that they had seen him since Tuesday.

“They came looking for him. They do a check and couldn’t find him. I was at work and I was calling him the whole day. I didn’t get through to his cell phones, they were turned off. The police then came back the night and take statements about his whereabouts, where he does hang out, where he frequents and if we know where he based from because he is a taxi driver,” said Moseley.
