THE SHOT PUT has been added to this year’s National Primary Schools Athletic Championships (NAPSAC).

This was revealed by new championship director Wendy Barrow-Smith during yesterday’s official launch at All Saints Primary School, St Peter, to announce the details of the championships, which return to the National Stadium on Monday.

“We have introduced a new event this year in terms of the Under-13 shot put. [We are] trying to develop these athletes for when they reach secondary school because some of them go straight into the Under-15 division; therefore, they find themselves taking part in events that they haven’t done before at primary school,” Barrow-Smith said.(RG)
