Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, arrives in Barbados on Monday for a two-day visit that will see him attending the 31st Intersessional Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as the Special Guest.

He will be accompanied by his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

Trudeau, who is paying his first visit to Barbados as prime minister, is expected to first hold discussions with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and members of Cabinet, and meet with CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, prior to the start of the summit.

He is also scheduled to plant a tree and unveil a plaque at the National Botanical Gardens, and attend a dinner with CARICOM Heads of Government before attending the opening of the CARICOM Summit, where he will attend the Plenary and meet in caucus with regional leaders, before departing later in the day for Ottawa.

Prime Minister Trudeau’s visit to the Caribbean is designed to further strengthen the existing relations between CARICOM Member States and Canada. (BGIS)
