Government is promising that no Barbadian will be denied the opportunity to participate in the fledgling medicinal cannabis sector.

That is, according to Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Indar Weir, if certain criteria, including having the financial wherewithal to do so, are met.

Addressing the second annual Barbados Medical Cannabis Conference at the Errol Barrow Centre For Creative Imagination, The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill, last Saturday, Weir sought to “set the record clear”.

He stressed that as Government aimed to build out the sector, it had to do so responsibly.

“I will be very clear that the easiest thing I can do under a system [of] medicinal cannabis, will not be the easiest thing for people to participate in, given the standards that they have to meet, the level of security that I have already spoken to,” Weir said. (SDB Media)
