The race to secure a seat on board Team Barbados’ flight bound for the 49th edition of the CARIFTA Games in Bermuda, is definitely on.

A total of 13 athletes had met the qualifying standards for the April 10-13 Games when the curtain came down on the two-day Louis Lynch Track & Field Championships at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Layla Haynes was arguably the biggest star on the track on an evening featuring performances in the field.

The 15-year-old Elite Distance Programme (ELD) runner not only produced another CARIFTA Games qualifying display, but also motored to a new national junior and meet record of 10:36.37 seconds in the women’s 3 000 metres. (AGB)
