The distribution of vehicle registration stickers as well as the issuance and renewal of driving licences have been suspended during the period of the public health emergency curfew.
In a statement last week, the Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn, announced that there would be no penalty for expired registration stickers or driving licences during this time.
Manager of Communications at the Barbados Revenue Authority, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, explained that this suspension would considerably reduce the number of persons coming to the Authority’s offices.
“A significant portion of the foot traffic into our offices on a monthly basis is related to licensing transactions. In an effort to maintain public health and safety during this emergency period, we are limiting as far as possible in-person interactions with the public at the Authority.
“So, there is no need to come to our offices for registration stickers or licences at this time,” she added, but advised residents to call or email for support. The public is advised that there may be delayed responses during the period, as the Authority is currently operating with minimal staff. (PR)
