Semester Two at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus resumes tomorrow after an approximate three week interruption due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

A statement from the university said teaching will take place online for all students, wherever possible, including those who returned home to various countries around the world.

During the three-week online teaching period, which ends on Friday, April 24, 2020, the timetable that applied during the previous face-to-face classes will remain unchanged. This means that irrespective of which country or time zone a student is in, Eastern Caribbean time will apply.

The campus had suspended all face-to face teaching on March 18, a day after Barbados moved to Stage 1 of its National Preparedness Plan for the COVID-19 pandemic. It was announced at the time that classes would resume on April 6.

The examination period will run May 11 to June 12, 2020.

There is no summer school this year. The period will be used to enable students needing to graduate to complete supplemental examinations, orals and different forms of assistance to complete the academic year.

The changeover to facilitate fully online classes was coordinated by a newly-established Campus Continuation Committee on Online Learning. (PR)
