Two months ago, overseas-based Barbadian sprinter Tristan Evelyn never imagined her stellar track and field season would come to an early end.
After winning both the Women’s 60 and 200 metres at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships last month in times of 7.31 and 23.16 seconds, respectively, the University of Houston student, who is pursuing a degree in human resource management, had shifted her attention to the outdoors.
But the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) was forced to suspend all competitions due to the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
Since then, the NCAA has announced a decision to allow an extra year of eligibility, granting Evelyn at least one more chance to shine abroad. (AGB)
