This year’s CARIFTA GAMES in Bermuda was meant to be a redemption job for junior national thrower Kevon Hinds.
After last year’s fourth-place finish in the Under-17 Boys’ shot put in the Cayman Islands, the Queen’s College student was aiming to better his performance – 14.93 metres – and get on the podium despite moving up to the Under-20 division.
The 17-year-old, who also competes in the discus and javelin, was on course to produce a medal for Barbados this Easter weekend perhaps in the shot put, after qualifying with a season-best distance of 15.76 metres at the Louis Lynch Championships.
“Unfortunately, last year I didn’t medal, which I should’ve. I’m very disappointed that the Games were postponed, as I really felt like I needed to redeem myself after letting down my country last year.
