A man who collapsed and died at the entrance of the Black Rock Police Police Station this morning has been identified as John Jose Cave, 27, of Flagstaff, Clapham, St Michael.

Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, said lawmen received a report after 2 a.m. informing them that a man was in the area of Skeete Road, Fairfield, Black Rock, St Michael throwing stones and bottles, breaking windows damaging cars and houses.

Inniss said responding teams from Black Rock and District “A” Police Station, including the Criminal Investigation Department and the Suppressing Criminal Activity Threatening Society (SCATS) unit were met by residents who had held the suspect. He was handed over to lawmen and taken to the Black Rock Police station. As he was entering the station office he collapsed on the floor and medical assistance was summoned, said the police spokesman.

A doctor later pronounced him dead.

Inniss said police have launched an unnatural death investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Black Rock Police Station at 1 (246) 417-7500, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800 (TIPS) 8477 or any police station. (PR/KG)
