Bodies representing the public service vehicle sector are united in their disgust about operators being asked to show identification at gas stations.
Both the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) and the Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) are calling for a meeting with Government to address the current situation as well as the future of the sector post COVID-19.
“I believe we need serious consultation, now and after COVID-19 passes, in regard to public transport. It is more than jumping on a ZR or minibus from point A to B, it is people’s livelihoods and investments.
“We make a tremendous contribution to the economy but are treated worse than second class citizens due to the stigma surrounding ZR culture,” said APTO chairman Kenneth Best. (CA)
