One man injured in accident

One man was rescued from a car after an accident along Kirton’s Road, St Philip, around 6:45 p.m. on April 18.

Demar Bend, 31, of Emerald Park West, St Philip, was trapped in the vehicle after he collided with a wall. He was freed by members of the Barbados Fire Service using the jaws of life. He was the sole occupant of the car.

Police public relations officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, said Bend suffered two broken legs, facial fractures and lacerations. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.

Barbados Water Authority employees responded to the scene to repair damage as a result of the accident. Workers were also on the scene to repair damage to natural gas equipment. (KG)
