Caution to prank callers

The Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) today warned against the misuse of the 211 Emergency System.

“It has been brought to the attention of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) that there are a number of persons who have been misusing the 211 system by making prank calls to the system.

“It has been noted that young children in particular are calling the 211 Emergency System in circumstances where there are no emergencies. This practice causes unnecessary delays to the response by the emergency personnel,” a statement from the RBPF said.

“The Royal Barbados Police Force is asking individuals to be minded that they should be responsible in their use of telecommunications particularly at this time where access to the emergency network is of paramount importance,” the statement said. (PR)
