Every room full of garbage

A St Philip family got the shock of their lives this week when they discovered heaps of garbage littered throughout a relative’s house which was occupied by her two teenage children.

Every room was filled with plastic bags of garbage, empty food cans and empty bottles strewn on the floor. There were dirty objects in the toilet bowl, filth in the bathroom, bags of garbage dumped in the sinks and plates and utensils blackened from dirt stacked in the kitchen cupboards.

The furniture and the beds were also soiled and filthy.
Reynold Franklyn, the grandfather of the two children, who are 18 and 14 years old, said his daughter moved out five years ago, leaving her children in the house.

The woman, he said, also forbade family members, who all live in the area, from going near the home. (MB)
