A 53-year-old husband accused of committing an act of serious indecency against his stepdaughter and assaulting his wife, was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital after he appeared in the Bridgetown Traffic Court yesterday.

The accused, who is unemployed, was not required to plead to committing the act of serious indecency against the girl, who was 13, on May 12, and assaulting the girl’s mother, his wife, the next day.

Prosecutor Sergeant Edwin Pinder, who said he was “vehemently” objecting to bail for the accused, pointed to the seriousness and the nature of the charges.

He noted the offences could attract a jail term of up to 15 years on conviction. (HLE)
