BARBADIAN jockey Wesley Cave had a good day in the saddle as horse racing returned to Hippodrome Karukera in Guadeloupe last Sunday.
Cave booted home a brace on the six-race card as racing restarted without spectators after falling victim to the health crisis coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic for the last two and a half months.
With several new restrictions enforced inclusive of the compulsory wearing of masks by everyone, reserved access for coaches, lads, jockeys, employees, race organisers, and service providers while maintaining physical distancing, Cave wasted no time in taking the opening event with Dasanga. Owners, breeders, jockeys agents are not authorised inside the race track.
He put the Rony Irdor-trained horse to the front in the 1 400 metres Price of the Rails event and was never caught.
