Young female wrestler Makayla Browne is still awaiting word on whether she will be able to compete at this year’s Under-15 Pan American Championships in Nicaragua in November.

Browne lamented she has had to miss out on a great amount of training sessions because of the coronavirus pandemic, but she is still keeping in the best frame of mind as she looks towards someday making it to the Summer Olympics.

“I am now missing out on a lot of training. Before this happened, I would do training most evenings. When I get home I would usually do my schoolwork before I go to sleep,” said the 14-year-old Ellerslie School student.

She has big hopes of reaching the medal podium in Nicaragua but said the primary goal is about being the best she could be. (RG)
