The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) pumping station at Apes Hill, St James is currently offline as a result of low reservoir levels.

A statement from BWA said: “This is impacting customers serviced by the Castle Grant system within its distribution network. Consequently, customers in parts of St Andrew, St Joseph and St Thomas may experience low pressure or water outages. These areas may include White Hill, Hillaby and surrounding districts in St Andrew; Lammings, Chimborazo, Mellows, Bissex, Braggs Hill, Park’s Road, Horse Hill and surrounding districts in St Joseph and Cane Field, Welchman Hall and neighbouring districts in St Thomas.”

The BWA said water tankers will assist residents of the affected districts as a temporary measure. BWA also encouraged residents to store water now that the hurricane season has officially started.

“As usual, we reiterate five (5) gallons per person, per day, per household for a minimum of five (5) days or as much as your household requires,” the statement said. (PR)
