About 110 Barbadians who were stranded in the United States since the COVID-19 lockdown in March, are to return home on Tuesday, thanks to a special flight organised by Barbados’ diplomatic missions.

Described by Ambassador in Washington, Noel Lynch, as a “repatriation flight”, the special Jet Blue Flight 8001 is scheduled to leave John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at 8 a.m. with an intermediate stop at Fort Lauderdale in Florida, before going on to Grantley Adams International Airport.

It is expected to arrive at 4:15 p.m.

“The special flight was arranged by our country’s embassy in Washington to aid scores of Barbadians who were stranded in the US since March when commercial passenger flights in and out of Barbados were suspended by the airlines due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Lynch told the Weekend Nation yesterday.
