THE NINE MONTHS in which Thaddeus Leroy Best was given to pay compensation had long passed, but he had not paid a cent.
Last Thursday, after telling the No. 5 Supreme Court a hard-luck story, the convicted man was ordered to start payments from the end of this month or face other penalties.
It was last May that Best, 65, of 1st Avenue, Brevitor Hall, St Peter, was ordered to pay $7 500 compensation in nine months after he was convicted of indecently assaulting a then 11-year-old girl, who was 20 at the time of trial, sometime between July 1 and 31, 2009.
Justice Pamela Beckles had set Thursday as the date of review for the matter of compensation. Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim held a watching brief for the young lady. (HLE)
