Give BOSS a chance, says union leader

Trade union leader Senator Toni Moore wants public sector workers to give the Barbados Optional Savings Scheme (BOSS) a chance, and assured them there was “no trickery” involved.

However, she is opposed to undeserving companies, including some in the construction industry, benefiting from the approximately $100 million in capital spending Government hopes the salary-for-bonds initiative will generate.

The Barbados Workers’ Union general secretary made this clear yesterday as the Senate debated the Barbados Optional Savings Scheme Bill, 2020.

Moore said her union was unable to canvass the collective views of members, but in their discussions with Government, workers’ representatives had ensured people paid by the public purse got the best possible deal. (SC)
