Some residents of Snagg Land, Bush Hall, St Michael, want urgent action taken before there is another tragedy in Barbados like the one at Arch Cot, Britton’s Hill, St Michael, in 2007.

While work has begun to repair a more than 20-foot well which collapsed on Monday, Kathyann Wood, whose home overlooks the well, said she still did not feel safe.

“This is not a drainage problem; the ground is still shaking. I think this whole area is dangerous. They only patching the problem but I don’t want me or my family to become statistics.

“I’m saying the ground here is unstable, my family isn’t safe and I want to move,” she said, noting how the same well had collapsed about 13 years ago.” (CA)
